The City Recreation Center is operated by the City of Plattsburgh Recreation Department. It sits on US Oval on the historic "Old Base." The Center occupies the former military recreation facility, which was built in 1934.

The City Recreation Center is the perfect place to get into a fitness routine. As the most extensive multi-use recreation facility in the North Country, you can have fun with friends in a "no frills" environment. Joining is affordable, and there are several membership options.
Renovations and a Return to Public Space
The last two years have seen many changes at the City Recreation Center. When our Group Exercise Room is complete, we will have added almost 20,000 square feet for public use. If you haven't been here in a while, it will be worth the visit!

Two sessions are available. Sessions run 8 weeks.
Winter: January 16-March 11

Drop-In Fitness/Day Pass
Want to try out a class? Use our day pass to participate in any of our fitness classes (as long as there is enough space) by paying per class. You can use the day pass rate as often as you want!
Registration
Registration for fitness classes can be done on-line at www.plattsburghrecreation.com or at the City Recreation Center front desk. Registration closes the Friday prior to the class start date, unless otherwise noted. Members need to pre-register to access classes for free.
The City Recreation Center is proud to be a host to many events throughout the year such as the Plattsburgh Half Marathon, the American Heart Association Heart Walk, Pararnormal Expo, Zumbathon for Hannah's Hope, CancerBGone, and many others.

Just minutes from downtown Plattsburgh on the shores of Lake Champlain, the Plattsburgh City Beach is one of the largest freshwater beaches in America and boasts beautiful views of Lake Champlain and the majestic Green Mountains of Vermont. The park features access to over a mile and a quarter of sandy beach, a dedicated swimming area, picnic tables and outdoor grills, a concession stand, kayak rentals, restrooms with showers and a nature trail.
ADMISSION:
City of Plattsburgh Residents: FREE
Non Residents: $5 US/CAN per car.
City Residents can pick up beach passes at the beach ticket booth on the first visit.
Town Residents can pick up beach passes at the Town Clerk's office during normal business hours.
*Please stick beach pass on the upper right hand corner of the vehicle's windshield.
DIRECTIONS:
To get to the beach, take the Northway (I-87) to exit 39. Go straight at the traffic light and take your first right into the City Beach!

HOURS:
The Plattsburgh City Beach will open on June 30, 2011 and close on September 5, 2011.
Gates will open at 11:00 a.m to 7pm daily, weather and staffing permitted.
The Crete Memorial Civic Center is a 23,000 sq ft multi-use facility. Trade shows, community events, sporting events and live entertainment events are often held. During the fall, winter, and spring months, the City’'s Indoor Soccer program is in full swing on the top-of-the-line turf floor. The Crete hosts hundreds of teams every year with thousands of local residents using the facility every month.
The City of Plattsburgh Recreation Department has the ability to host many different types of events in and around the Crete Memorial Civic Center property. Private parties of over 600 people, cooking shows, boxing, wrestling, concerts, RV Shows, Builders Shows, Motorsports Shows and Snocross events have all been held at the Crete Memorial Civic Center with great success. With many electrical options, a performance stage, 100 tables and 650 chairs and a dedicated staff available, the Crete Civic Center is the perfect place for your event.
